Decision:
To amend the Council Procedure Rules to allow
for the virtual meetings of Council, Executive and Committees over
the next year.
Reasons for the decision:
As stated in the attached report, the
Government has by regulation made it possible for Councils to hold
meetings virtually. The attached Council Procedure Rules (CPR) make
provision for the necessary changes to hold virtual meetings.
Alternative options considered:
Not to change the CPR and thus not to hold
virtual meetings.
This was rejected as meetings are required, government advice is
that meetings should be virtual and that to do anything else would
be discriminatory.
