The
General Licensing Committee deals with all matters relating to
licensing which are not covered by Licensing Act 2003 or the
Gambling Act 2005. These specific matters are covered by the
Licensing and Gambling Acts
Committee and
Sub Committee.
The matters dealt with by the
General Licensing Committee include taxi licensing (hackney
carriage and private hire), scrap metal sites and operators and
matters under the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act
1982 (as amended by the Police and Crime Act 2009).
The
General Licensing Committee generally considers all policy matters
and makes recommendations to Council. The Committee sits as the
General Licensing Sub Committee to consider applications and
other matters in relation to licences, such as breach of
conditions, which cannot be dealt with by officers under
delegation. Meetings of the Committee are scheduled twice per year
but can be held as and when required.
More
information on the terms of reference and responsibilities of the
General Licensing Committee and Sub-Committee can be found
in Part
